Inspiring TD run by 7-year Old Cancer Survivor at Nebraska’s Cornhuskers Spring Scrimmage

The highlight at this year’s Cornhuskers Red and White Spring game held Saturday April 4th was a 7-year old cancer survivor jack Hoffman.

Jack Hoffman is a diehard Nebraska Cornhusker fan and currently battling brain cancer. Last season Hoffman met and formed a strong bond with Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead and has been an inspiration for the entire Nebraska organization ever since.

During the fourth quarter at yesterday’s Spring Red and White game Hoffman was given the chance of a lifetime—he was allowed not only dress in a Nebraska uniform (oversized helmet; no pads), lined up in the back field on offense—took the hand of from the QB and ran the ball for a 69-yard touchdown.

This was clearly the highlight of the game as the entire Huskers football team met Jack in the end zone and hoisted him in the air. The Cornhuskers coaching staff (including Head Coach Bo Pelini) also joined in the celebration when Jack returned to the sideline.

This was truly a touching inspiration. This is why we love sports.

Best wishes and God speed Jack Hoffman.
